The Prince William County Retired Police Officers Association was formed on July 1, 2000, with about 25 members.  Today, our membership has almost reached 150 members and continues to grow strong.

The PWCRPOA's goals:

  • We strive to maintain the contact and friendships of those members we worked with for so many years.
  • We also realize, as retirees, our concerns with issues, such as health insurance, may be different from active members of law enforcement and we need a voice.  This voice is directed at both present and future members.

The PWCRPOA has accomplished many things since its inception on July 1, 2000.

We have become incorporated, established by-laws, and have held elections for the  Board of Directors and Officers.

We have been sanctioned as an organization by the Board of County Supervisors and County staff.  A Trustee, albeit non-voting, is on the Prince William County Supplemental Pension Plan for Police Officers and Salaried Fire and Rescue Department Personnel Board of Trustees.

Our most identifiable success, and one the retirees of the Prince William County Police Department, along with all PWC retirees, are already benefiting from, was influencing the County to subsidize our health insurance premiums.  It is our intent to continue to address having the amount of the subsidy increase annually.

We had an active role in establishing the Retiree Health Savings Plan and will also continue working toward improving the benefits of the Supplemental Pension Plan.

The Prince William County Retired Police Officers  Association is a charitable organization.  The PWCRPOA makes contributions to the  Fisher  Memorial Trust to honor the memory of each of our deceased members.  We have established a Benevolent Fund to assist our members and/or spouses in the event of long term or terminal illnesses and have instituted a College Scholarship Fund.  We also contribute to similar organizations in support of our fellow law enforcement officers.

The PWCRPOA participates in assisting active members in pre-retirement seminars offered through the PWC Criminal Justice Academy,
as sponsored by the Police Department.  We assist individual members as they seek answers to specific issues.

The PWCRPOA also works with the PWC Police Association on trends and issues of specific interest to all members, past and present.
